The fabulous five have recently graced our screens with their latest season of Queer Eye, in Texas. If you’re anything like me, you probably binged the entire thing all in one Sunday morning sitting.
My favourite part of each episode is the interior makeover at the end, created from the vision of interior designer Bobby Berk. If you’re a long-time fan of Queer Eye, you’ll know that Bobby’s personality is very energetic and fun, much like his interior style.
Bobby has teamed up with Yellowpop, a global home and decor brand to launch a super-cute collection of eye-catching neon signs. The limited-edition collection consists of minimalist designs that are inspired by Bobby’s modern and stylish spirit. Phrases like ‘Honey, I'm home’ and ‘Style Taste Class’ are just some of the phrases used in a nod to Bobby’s youthful and creative style.
“From my iconic eyes that have been developed in many capacities, to my signature "Xx", to the simplicity of the rainbow flag- the entire assortment will touch spaces for anyone. That to me, is the most important part, inclusion and brightening someone's walls" says Bobby.
How to style a neon sign
Neon signs might have brought the famous nighttime glow to cities like New York, Paris and London, but how do we style them inside our homes without feeling like we’re living in downtown Las Vegas aesthetic? Granted, it might seem daunting to add a neon sign to a room, for the fear of it overpowering the space.
The key is to keep it simple, creative and stick to a neutral colour palette where you can. When we think of neon signs, we automatically picture bright neon hues like pinks, yellows and blues. However, a neon sign in a subtle white or cream can be an elegant finish to a room and a way of dipping your toe into the trend without going overboard.
