Pete Davidson Horror Film The Home Lands at Lionsgate

Lionsgate has landed U.S. rights to The Home, a thriller starring Pete Davidson. The movie, directed by James DeMonaco (The Purge), was backed by Miramax and screened for buyers outside of competition at this years Toronto Film Festival. Its expected to land in theaters sometime in 2024.

“The Home” follows Davidson as Max, a former foster child who begins working at a retirement home, only to discover that its residents and caretakers harbor sinister secrets.

“We went into ‘The Home’ not knowing what to expect and James and Pete delivered an exhilarating ride of a movie that is pure suspense-filled fun and just plain bonkers,” says Charlotte Koh, Lionsgate’s executive VP of acquisitions and co-productions. “Audiences won’t know what hit them.”

DeMonaco and Adam Canto wrote “The Home,” which was produced by Bill Block and Sebastian K. Lemercier. Koh will oversee the film for Lionsgate.

Davidson returns to “Saturday Night Live” this weekend to host the show’s first episode since the end of the WGA strike. He recently starred in Sony’s “Dumb Money,” a comedy about the stranger-than-fiction GameStop stock frenzy from January 2021.

Christopher Davis oversaw the deal on behalf of Lionsgate, with CAA negotiating on behalf of the filmmakers. CAA and Thom Zadra oversaw the deal for Miramax. Deadline first reported news of the sale.
