A Newport Beach, California couple's gender reveal took a turn when they learned that they were having a fourth daughter - much to the chagrin of their one son.  

Dad Dan Rodrigues revealed the gender on Monday by smashing a tennis ball that exploded in a pink poof - indicating that he and wife Kate Casey were expecting a baby girl. 

The couple's three other daughters and one son were sitting with their mom for the reveal, and their reactions were caught on camera by friends.

Kate cried a little after learning the gender of her baby, because she knew her son wanted a brother

While mom and the girls dropped their jaws in surprise, six-year-old Jack immediately became downcast - his disappointment evident.

Kate tried to comfort her son, pulling him in for a hug. And then started to cry for a moment. 

She later said that she was overcome with emotion because she knew her son wanted a baby brother.

Jack is the second oldest of the couple's four children. They also have three other daughters - eight-year-old Mia, four-year-old Hayes and two-year-old Sutton.
