Marvel fans may think there’s a glitch in the Matrix when they see the first photos from episode 3 of “Supergirl,” airing on Oct. 24.
The new images show Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) shaking hands and getting friendly with President Olivia Marsdin, played by Lynda Carter, star of the Wonder Woman TV series in the 1970s.

Carter will make her entrance in an episode titled “Welcome to Earth,” in which Supergirl and the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO) are assigned to protect the President after she becomes the victim of an attack as alien vs. human rights issues heat up in National City.
“Wonder Woman” was among the first TV series to feature a female superhero, and Carter told Variety she took inspiration from Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton for her own presidential part.
“I used Hillary to prepare … I saw the way she can be warm and funny and inviting and serious,” Carter said.

The new pictures from The CW drama depict both President Marsden’s warm side as shakes hands with Supergirl, and her serious side as she flashes a look of fierce determination while striding side by side with DEO head Hank Henshaw (David Harewood).

Season 2 of “Supergirl” premieres Monday at 8 p.m. The series migrated to The CW after a season on CBS.
